Sensitive skin
Though considered relatively rare, sensitivity can occur to all skin types, whether skin is normal/combination, oily or dry. Cosmetics, fragrances, medications, even the slightest
touch can cause redness and irritation.
A sensitive skin is a thin or a fine-textured skin. It reacts quickly to both heat and cold; therefore, it sunburns and windburns easily.
It is commonly dry, delicate and prone to allergic reactions. Temperature changes, some detergents, cosmetics and alcohol (used on the skin) can all cause irritation, leaving the skin red and blotchy, with visible surface veins.
Skin may also become sensitive while taking prescription medications. It is important to use mild cleansers, toners and products with soothing properties. Exfoliate with gentle products designed for sensitive skin and use sun protection daily.
